LIBRA FULL MOON + LUNAR ECLIPSE :: Harmonizing our Heart Spaces

As our Lunar and Solar Lights align across the zodiac, we typically encounter an illumination as the Moon’s luminosity fills the night skies. However, during this eclipse, the luminaries dip into the darkest shadows of Earth. This potent passage stirs up and surfaces our own internal shadows, calling for acknowledgement.

Bringing balance back into our bodies, minds, spirits, environments, and energies.

The opening lunation of the Astrological New Year is here in the form of not only a Full Moon, but simultaneously as a Lunar Eclipse in Libra on March 25 as the clock strikes midnight PT, at 5 degrees of this cardinal air sign. The first luminary opposition of Spring encourages the excavation and release of any energies holding us back from experiencing our renewal, embodying this seasonal essence of rebirth.

Welcome To Eclipse Season

Once again, we find ourselves in the midst of an eclipse series — the introductory point being this Lunar Eclipse in Libra which is followed up and sealed by the Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8. As astrologer Chris Brennan of The Astrology Podcast defines, “Eclipses are catalysts for change.” When these powerful portals are initiated, we are working with the lunar nodes of the Moon.

Sitting in orbital opposition, Rahu (the north node) is currently at 15 degrees of Aries while Ketu (the south node) is at 15 degrees of Libra. Rahu represents what we are called to explore and expand into, while Ketu represents what is familiar to us and where we latch onto comfort zones, even to a point of detriment.

The north and south nodes symbolize the soul’s journey, transcending timelines, linking us to past and future versions of ourselves through transformation in the present. Cosmic crossings pointing to endings and beginnings, fated unfoldings, and karmic circumstances. The intensity of how these lunar events impact each of us individually is determined by how our natal charts are configured to the current celestial line up. Those with prominent Aries/Libra/cardinal placements will likely be sensing into these energized ethers most strongly.

While typically charged chapters, it is best to go with the flow with as much surrender as we can muster as we navigate this etheric turbulence. Trust that the planets pass with purpose. Lean into your inner, instinctual, intuitive knowing to guide you through.

The most recent round of eclipses hit last autumn, with a Libra New Moon Solar Eclipse on October 14 at 21 degrees. Think back to that time, what was magnified and heightened in your world, in either charmed or challenging ways? Look at this round as the next phase in this process. How are the cosmos changing you?

Independence vs Interdependence

The axis of Aries and Libra is highly activated during this eclipse cycle, highlighting themes of independence and interdependence. The sign of the individual and the sign of relations meet for reckoning, asking us to assess our attachment styles.

While the art of relating is a unique practice for all, we each have some way of defining what feels best with how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. Some of us require more alone time, while others crave companionship. Neither is wrong, both are okay, however it is important to build a sense of balance.

We may be reviewing themes of reciprocity, noticing where our connections feel out of order and ensuring there is an equal give and take with those in our lives. Utilize the illumination of this Full Moon to note where any patterns of codependency, enabling, rescuing, disassociation, or anxious attaching may be running rampant.

The stars have been inspiring us to elevate our standards, align accordingly.

People-Pleasing? Hardly Know Her

While chatting about relational dynamics, we point to people-pleasing as a key pattern that many of us are shedding and working through to some extent. With the signs of Aries and Libra at the forefront, we unpack where we may be self-abandoning or self-sacrificing for others, over-giving at our own expense.

The depths of these notions may be ingrained deep within, and it may feel scary to act differently, implementing new and healthier ways of relating, especially when the heart is involved. We may really care about these people and we don’t want to let them down, but in reframing this mindset we must ask, am I letting myself down?

This Full Moon reminds us to prioritize ourselves and our own self care, before showing up for others. As the saying goes, we can’t pour from an empty cup. The better we care for ourselves, the better we are able to care for our loved ones and communities. Our self love shines outwardly, as we share from this space of fullness.

Equanimity, Baby

The definition of equanimity is as follows, “a mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation”. Being a cardinal air sign, Libra holds a unique power that allows us to tap into a state of balance of the mind. This teaching encourages us to remain steady within, regardless of what we may be navigating through. Just because circumstances may feel chaotic, doesn’t mean we have to embody and take on that chaos. We have the power to seek stillness inside, returning to our mindfulness, awareness, and intentionality as we respond to life.

Affirm aloud to yourself, “I trust myself to overcome any obstacles along my path. I believe that all is unfolding in a way that best serves and supports me. I remain steady and centered within as I move through the waves of life.”

Ruled by The Goddess

Although it is a masculine air sign, Libra is ruled by divine feminine, Venus. This means that our Cosmic Queen is also the ruler of this Full Moon, giving us key insight and information into the tone and expression of this lunation.

Venus is now dancing at 16 degrees Pisces, having moved through a conjunction to Saturn in the last few days. Meeting up with the planet of boundaries and discipline while in the sign of her exaltation is giving Venus a reality check, inspiring us to ground into ways of being that better serve us and our standards. We deserve that.

Also forming a sextile to Jupiter in Taurus, the Benefics linking lends us a line of good luck, a touch of prosperity and positivity which feels soothing through this otherwise electrifying astrological atmosphere.

Venus is learning a lot through lessons of the heart lately. The eclipse accelerates this theme for each of us in our own ways. Are you open to receiving the teachings?

Celestial Conditions Of The Full Moon Chart

The most concentrated point of energy in the chart of this lunar event is the pile up of planetary points split between Pisces and Aries, signaling the transition between cycle completions and new creations. As planets pass through this zodiacal zone, they are revitalized, joining deep integration with fresh inspiration. We may be feeling held in a time warp, between what is fading and what is forming.

As we spoke about above, Venus (the ruler of this lunar event) is moving through Pisces, accompanied by Mars, Saturn, and Neptune. Mars so happens to be the ruler of Aries, taking authority on the other end of this ecliptic axis. Alongside both the planet of reality and the planet of fantasy, the Lovers are rewriting matters of the heart, utilizing surrender, compassion, and forgiveness to find resolution, or to wrap up a chapter that allows us the freedom to move on in whatever capacity.

Next door in Aries, we see the Sun, Rahu, Chiron, and Mercury lined up. This is a powerful bunch that will pack a punch in the upcoming weeks. Let’s break it down!

The Sun has recently been reborn, launching into another journey through the astral archetypes. The radiance to this light is strong, with the warmth of its rays increasing by the day. We are feeling the heat restoring us from within after a long winter. Sol has a big couple of weeks on the horizon, preparing to conjoin the nodal axis before its own eclipse activation to kickstart next month, which we’ll chat more about soon.

Mercury, the planet of communication, expression, and the mental realms is slowing its motion, getting ready to station retrograde on April 1 at 27 degrees of Aries. This reversal marks the first retrograde of the year, breaking up a period of all planets direct that has graced us over the last few months. While this rx cycle is nothing to fear, we may notice disruptions and misunderstandings looming in the air as our Mystical Messenger takes a trip to reflect and receive information being revealed. When a planet stations in the middle of eclipse season, especially this one, it is imperative that we cultivate patience as we roll with the punches. Although miscommunications and misfires of the mind may be entering the field due to this planetary phenomenon, it serves us to remain open and move with intention.

Believe it or not, one of the heaviest hitters out of the players in the spotlight is Chiron, nicknamed “The Wounded Healer”. Having shared a conjunction to the north node/opposition to the south node late last month, there is something here coming up in our consciousness to address, feel and heal through. We may gain more insight and illumination into what this soulful sore spot is, as the next Solar Eclipse exactly aligns with this asteroid. Although there may be discomfort attached to this aspect, this may be the cathartic serum we truly needed.

Stay tuned as we continue discussing and dissecting these dynamics in the next blog post! In the meantime, breathe through any intensity. All is well, all is well, all is well.

FULL MOON RITUAL :   Assemble Your Altar Space

This Libra Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty, love, harmony, art, and aesthetics. Our Cosmic Goddess reminds us that in each breath, we are all artists, constructing our lives as our greatest creations.

The energies we carry internally reflect into our external experiences, and vice versa. As we prepare for this lunar event, we will put together an altar as a ritual to craft a beautiful space to meditate on and to ground into during any magnified moments.

1) To begin, clear off and cleanse a surface that is central to where you pass by each day, making room for your sacred setup.

2) Before anything else, sit before this clearing with your full presence, closing your eyes and deepening the connection to your breath. Inhale, exhale, repeat. Attune your awareness to your intention — what are you aurically infusing your altar with? What are you feeling prompted to release, to let go?

3) After invoking your intentions, allow your imagination to take the reins. Gather materials and supplies for your masterpiece. A few suggestions: candles, fresh flowers, archetypes/deities/figurines, crystals, bells, photographs or special memories, hand-written notes, little treats, herbs and other elements of nature, etc.

4) Now, it’s time to put it all together. Allow yourself to have fun with this ritual. Perhaps playing music in the background to dance around as you set your space. Remember, the energy you hold within as you create is infused into your creations. Lay out your materials intuitively, sprinkling your special touches throughout.

5) Once your altar is complete, sit before it once again. This time, breathing life into it. Inhale, exhale, repeat. Revel and marvel in the beauty you have built here.

6) Feel free to leave this altar up through the duration of eclipse season, coming back to sit with this space whenever you’re feeling called or charged. Know that the altar is here to energize you, to awaken the spirit within you, to ground into. Whether it be to meditate upon, or to cry into, the ambiance of your altar is here to hold you.
